Our patrons

We’re honoured to have the support of many fantastic patrons. Our Royal Patron HRH The Duchess of Cambridge works to raise awareness of the work we do, and recently visited our Wester Hailes Art Room in Scotland. We’re also lucky to be supported by many high profile people who work hard to raise awareness of the positive, therapeutic work we’re doing to help children and young people around the UK.

As Patron of The Art Room, I feel great pride to see the work that the charity is doing. Vulnerable children flourish in the safe havens that The Art Room provides; this highlights just how important it is to support children at a time when they most need help and support.

As an early trustee and now a Patron of The Art Room it is inspiring to see just how many children this exceptional organisation has helped to rebuild their confidence and reengage with the communities and opportunities around them. I am proud to continue to be a part of this essential work.

Outset’s association with the Art Room has been a source of pride and deep sense of fulfilment for all involved since the first day I met Juli! Her imagination and love for the children is felt throughout the whole organisation - every day. The incredible dedication of all your members of staff as well as the pupils’ achievements move me deeply every time and always reassure me that our monetary as well as intellectual philanthropic investment is most meaningful and impactful. I am looking forward to the continuation of our fruitful partnership.

Every child is an artist. But when life stamps down on some children, The Art Room offers them breathing room for the restoration of their spirit through that thing they have a natural flair for - Art. This is what makes me a passionate supporter of The Art Room.

I love The Art Room because it seems to formalise my own take on the relationship of therapy and art. (…) They have these very beautifully equipped art studios attached to schools and the children who are having extreme difficulties in the school can come to this art room. And the teachers there, who are also trained counsellors, they can help them and they can provide a calm refuge where they can do some nice creative work, and they can glimpse their own creative power and perhaps reflect on the chaos of their lives.

The Art Room provides a creative platform which enables children to express themselves creatively, it is an exploratory space where self-confidence and potential is nurtured. It gives me particular pleasure to support the fantastic work of the art room.

The atmosphere in the art room can be emotional. There is a very high ratio of directors to students and it gives their self esteem a boost.

I have been to several Art Rooms now, in primary and secondary schools around London. Walking in to each of them, I felt engulfed by a profound sense of calm and wellbeing. Every Art Room offers an oasis of humanity, creativity and quietly vigilant care to the children who use it. To watch them there, intently focused on making an art work they can later be proud of, and to observe the dedication of the therapists who enable and support the children, is to see a hopeful dream realised. I urge anybody visiting this website to learn more about the work of this inspirational and highly effective charity. I am extremely proud to be one of its patrons.

An 'art room' was once a thought.

A fiction became an invention which grew into a fact.

For many , The Art Room became their fact - a fact of life.
