HRH Duchess of Cambridge and Grayson Perry Named the Clore Art Room at Barlby School on Thursday 15th January 2015
Together with Grayson Perry, our Royal Patron HRH The Duchess of Cambridge officially named the ninth Art Room on Thursday 15th January. The visit celebrated the culmination of a four-way partnership between the Clore Duffield Foundation, Barlby School, Oxford Garden School and The Art Room. With their generous support, the Clore Duffield Foundation has enabled us to open an invaluable new early intervention provision for West London.
During her visit, The Duchess of Cambridge was welcomed by the whole school in the hall, spent time with eight students who have been using The Art Room and talked through their latest projects. Her visit concluded with a round-table discussion with Juli Beattie, Founder Director; Dame Vivien Duffield, Chairman, the Clore Duffield Foundation; Grayson Perry CBE, Patron of The Art Room; Dr Mina Fazel MRCPsych DM, Patron of The Art Room; Anthony Mannix, Head Teacher, Barlby Primary School; Sarah Cooper, Head Teacher, Oxford Gardens Primary School; Gloria Lowe, Head Teacher, Northolt High School; Sarah Ambrose, Senior Practitioner and two ex-Art Room students from Oxford Spires Academy.
During the round-table discussion, the group explored the question of how art as a therapeutic intervention is growing in importance within the wider education system and how the impact of our work might be evaluated and assessed in future years to encourage others adopting the methodology.http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2015/jan/15/duchess-cambridge-grayson-perry-visit-childrens-studio
