The Art Room attracts major artists to the Halcyon Gallery
On 9 November 2011, the Art Room auctioned works by some of the most prominent artists in Britain today. Jake and Dinos Chapman, Antony Gormley, Mitch Griffiths, Simon Gudgeon, Maggi Hambling, Patrick Hughes, Pedro Paricio, Lorenzo Quinn, Paula Rego, Jenny Saville, Yinka Shonibare, Gavin Turk, Richard Wentworth, Rachel Whiteread, David Wightman, Emily Young and many other acclaimed artists donated pieces to be sold in aid of the charity. More than fifty artworks went under the hammer of the internationally renowned auctioneer Charlie Ross, who also gave his time for free. The champagne event took place at Halcyon Gallery in London’s Bruton Street, who supported the evening.
The Director of The Art Room, Juli Beattie, was thrilled by the response “The generosity of Halcyon Gallery, the artists and our sponsors has been overwhelming, and we could not be more grateful for their support, for one of the best and most exciting fundraising events we have ever held.”
The event was made possible by the sponsorship from Halcyon Gallery, Benugo, Bernard Morris Charitable Trust, David Robertson, Franks and Franks, and the Max Reinhardt Charitable Trust.
